Systematic review processes are continuously being refined, and updated. What was considered "best practice" for a systematic review in the 2010's is a lot different than what we see in 2020.

Today's systematic reviews still follow a prescriptive process and more emphasis is being placed on how the review will need to be updated if new content becomes available to keep up with the demand of evidence-based research.
